It’s that time of year again.

Once again the Electronic Entertainment Expo, lovingly known as E3, is upon us. With four of the big press conferences happening on Monday and Nintendo giving details on their new console on Tuesday, things are going to get a bit hectic. But I doubt they will get very exciting.

Aside from Nintendo’s press conference where we anticipate details on their next system, I doubt there will be very many surprises. Microsoft will probably announce Halo 4 and try to push the Xbox as a media center (to expand its user base). Sony has the “Next Generation Portable” (rumoured name is Vita) to show off. Ubisoft and EA have Assassins Creed Revelations and Mass Effect 3 respectively.

Aside from speculating on “surprises”, there are some games I am looking forward to seeing more of. Mass Effect 3 is one of them, even though I’m about 10% through the second one. The teaser to the new Tomb Raider game looks nice and I’m hoping for more information (and that it won’t suck). My fingers are crossed to see much more of Hitman: Absolution, the Hitman series has always been a favourite of mine. Also, I am really hoping for another Star Wars: The Old Republic trailer and curious to see how Sony plays down the month of downtime.

I won’t be dumping “breaking” news here. I will post some recaps at night and discuss what is interesting to me as it happens. The five sites that I usually read for news are No High Scores (for the good news), Rock, Paper, Shotgun (for PC gaming related news), GameIndustry.biz and Gamasutra (for industry news) and Kotaku (for everything else).

I will also be doing a nightly review podcast over at Madness Brewing with Jamie.
